Jewelry DIY Tutorial: Bead Ring with Felt Flower - Fashion Blog: DIY - Outfits, Shoes & Accessories
As my plaster is off now, I can take care of my DIY projects again. First, I want to redeem my promise that I made before my injury, namely the manual for this ring. The basic instructions are the same, but I have opted for a (in my opinion) nicer design.
Oh, I almost forgot: We’re in the process of revising my two blogs together, and, therefore, you find the DIY guide here in this blog. Have fun tinkering.
Material And Tools – For This DIY Project You Need
1.) 2 pieces of felt (lilac, red or pink for the flower, green for the leaf)
2.) Rubber thread (0.25 mm)
3.) Silk or nylon thread and 5 very thin needles (preferably a bead pin)
6.) (Rocailles)beads (I have taken 2 different colors)
7.) Optionally tape and tinker clue
The ring is composed of 3 rows of beads that are strung on four threads. To make this process as comfortable as possible, it would be best if you use a separate needle for each thread (for pulling through the beads).
DIY Tutorial: The Step-By-Step Craft Instructions
DIY Step 1 Draw Circles
For the bloom draw two circles (4 cm) on the lilac felt. On the green felt you draw an approximately 4.5 cm long sheet.
DIY Step 2 Cutting Out the Circles
Cut out the 2 circles and the leaf and a about 1.5 cm large square from the green felt.
DIY Step 3 Forming a Flower
Form a flower from the two lilac parties. First fold each of the two circles twice to create quarter circles (step 1 and 2 in the picture). Then put together the two folded parties (step 3 in the picture).
DIY Step 4 Sewing the Flower
Now sew the two parts of the flower together.
DIY Step 5 Sew the Flower To the Leaf
Place the flower in the middle of the green leaf and sew it on.
DIY Step 6 Cutting the Yarn
Twice collaps the 1 meter long rubber thread to get 4 lengths of equal size and thread the 4 times folded rubber yarn through the needle.
DIY Step 7 Pull the Thread Trough the Felt
Pull the thread through the green square-cut felt and leave hanging about 2.5 centimeters.
TIP: To make your work easier, fix the needle with a piece of tape on the table (see next photo).
DIY Step 8
Now the remaining four needles come into play, which we use for easier threading of the beads. Pull the first and second thread in opposite directions through the first bead.
DIY Step 9
With the next bead you make it the same way as with the first, pull the 2nd and 3rd yarn again in opposite directions through the second bead.
DIY Step 10
Now pull the 3rd and 4th thread through the third bead.
DIY Step 11
The next rows of beads are threaded on the same principle: from right to left: 1 & 2, 2 & 3, 3 & 4, and left again. So go on, until you reach the desired length. Thanks to the rubber thread the ring is flexible in the distance, therefore it is sufficient, if you take your ring finger as a measure.
DIY Step 12
If the ring is finished, you pull the four threads through one single needle.
DIY Step 13
Remove the ring from the duct tape and tie the ends together and cut the short side.
TIP: A small drop of craft glue secures the ends and prevents loosening of the knot.
DIY Step 14
With the longer 4-times thread sew the flower several times on the ring. These threads run through 4 individually “flower-columns” and leave the rest hanging.
DIY Step 15
“Spice up” the threads with some more beads and tie them well. DONE!
